During the period of consultation with the members to change the Constitution, the members of NPY Women’s Council inserted new guiding principles to provide over-arching guidelines for members and employees of the Council, these are:
- ngapartji ngapartji kulinma munu iwara wananma tjukarurungku – respect each other and follow the law straight
- kalypangku – conciliatory
- piluntjungku – peaceful and calm
- kututu mukulyangku – kind-hearted
- tjungungku – united
- kunpungku – strong
The Council has these principles in both Pitjantjatjara and English on the walls of their meeting room and refer to them during discussions and debates to ensure they are adhering to them in their governance practice.
