AIGI launches new Strategic Plan
The Australian Indigenous Governance Institute (AIGI) is proud to announce the launch of our new Strategic Plan (2025-2028), setting a clear path for the future of Indigenous governance.
Building on more than a decade of supporting strong governance across Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, the new plan strengthens AIGI’s commitment to championing Indigenous ways of governing, advancing self-determination, and supporting organisations, nations and communities to govern with confidence and integrity.
The plan outlines AIGI’s focus areas for the years ahead, including deepening partnerships, expanding our Indigenous Governance Toolkit, strengthening leadership initiatives, and promoting Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Data Governance. Guided by our values and vision, AIGI will continue to share knowledge, deliver training, and advocate for governance systems that reflect the diversity and strength of First Nations peoples.
Our new Strategic Plan is both a commitment and an invitation. It reflects the wisdom and aspirations of the communities we work with, and sets out how AIGI will continue to walk alongside them in shaping strong governance futures.
