AIGI informs culturally legitimate public policy and service delivery outcomes to support self-determined development of Indigenous Australians.
Through our advocacy and thought leadership, we are working to create systemic change across sectors and remove barriers to help Indigenous governance flourish.
Our advocacy role involves:
- improving availability of information to inform policy and program delivery
- advocating for policy reform and influencing change
- participating in panels and advisory groups
- engaging with national and international forums as an expert on Indigenous governance
- contributing to the Indigenous governance landscape through publications, submissions and case studies
- building strong relationships and collaborative partnerships to achieve a greater and a more integrated impact.
We have participated in numerous governance events and conferences, and made submissions on significant matters – including constitutional recognition, Indigenous Voice to Parliament and Native Title.
We have also participated on several committees and boards – including:
- Indigenous Research Exchange Advisory Board
- Committee for Review of the CATSI Act
- Committee for Evaluation of the NIAA Strengthening Organisational Governance Policy.
